The District can be located at the North Western comer of the Volta Region of Ghana and lies between latitudes 7° 40’N and 8° 15’N and longitudes 0° 6’E and 0°20’E. It has a total surface area of 2528 sq. km with water covering about 15% with its capital being Dambai.
It is bounded on the South West by Krachi West District, Jasikan District to the South East, Kadjebi District to the East and Nkwanta District to the North.
This location places the district at a strategic position - the central point between the Northern part and Southern part of the Eastern corridor of Ghana. The District can therefore take advantage of its strategic location to invest in gate way programmes to both the Southern and Northern Ghana.
Similarly, strategic facilities of national importance aimed at wider coverage for both the southern and northern Ghana can be conveniently located in the district to achieve the desired results. Being strategically located in the transitional zone, the district has the advantage of experiencing mixed climatic conditions that has both positive and adverse implications for the district’s development.
Chief Executive's Message
The district is made up of eight towns and our development priorities include modernising agriculture through the provision of irrigation facility, storage facilities and micro credit to farmers among others.
We hope to also greatly improve healthcare through the construction of CHPS compounds , rehabilitation of existing health facilities and provision of treated mosquito nets at subsidized prices amongst others.
About five physically challenged groups in the Krachi East District in the Volta Region have received financial assistance from through the disability fund to promote their economic activities.
KRACHI E: Afforestation takes of in 4 communities Seven thousand tree seedlings are being planted in each of four communities including Ayerefia Battor, Matamanu, Njare, Monkrate in the Krachi East District in the Volta Region.
KRACHI E: Major feeder roads improved Work has commenced on feeder roads in some selected communities in the Krachi East District in the Volta Region to open the communities for economic activities.
KRACHI E.: District Hospital in the offing The Krachi East District Assembly has among other things the construction of a District Hospital as one of the major targets for this year.
